Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Dine Local: pricing, operations, setup, and marketing.

Financials

Delivery fees are paid by the customer, not the restaurant. When a customer places an order, they pay a delivery fee that goes directly to the driver. The restaurant receives 100% of the order value: no commission is deducted from your earnings.

No. Your customers pay the exact same price online as they do when they call in or dine in. There are no hidden "service" fees added to the customer's bill, and there are no commissions deducted from your earnings.

Dine Local uses the Stripe Connect platform for managed payouts. Order funds are transferred directly into your restaurant's Stripe Connect account immediately after each order, and Stripe pays out your balance automatically every Monday. Stripe applies a 5% payment-processing fee on the order total including tax and delivery for online payments.

Operations

Dine Local works with any tablet you already have (iOS, Android, or Fire Tablet) and Epson-compatible network printers. If you need hardware, we supply it pre-loaded and configured for your restaurant:

  • Basic Tablet Kit: 10" Android tablet with Google Play, the Dine Local restaurant app pre-loaded, and a table-top stand: $189.99, or $139.99 with a 1-year plan.
  • Full Printer Kit: everything in the Basic Tablet Kit plus a 3" supported thermal printer configured to your tablet: $499.99, or $399.99 with a 1-year plan.

Multiple tablets and kitchen displays are supported for larger operations.

After every order, customers are prompted to leave quick feedback. This feedback is kept private and sent immediately to the email address on file for your restaurant. You can resolve any issues directly with the customer before they become public reviews.

One person taps Start Group Order and sets the order time, pickup or delivery, the item cutoff, and the delivery location. They add their own items and invite the rest of the group by email or a shareable join link. Everyone picks their own items, and the organizer checks out once with the full order: a single ticket for your kitchen, ideal for office lunches and family dinners.

The platform includes native support for alcohol ordering with built-in ID verification checks and legal compliance rules for ordering and delivery. The system enforces age verification and adheres to Canadian alcohol delivery regulations.
